Sounds like love to me :)

I've recently discovered this awesome thing called spotify and I created my own playlist and here is a sample of what I've been listening to all day :)

Lots about love, but I can't get over Michael Buble. He is so dreamy, I mean look at his face! It's hard to look away- especially when he's serenading you with beautiful music from the computer screen.

Ahhhh, "Just haven't met you yet!"

P.s. I am doing a DIY dress shirt to skirt soon :) I'm excited. You should be too!

My New Found Love

So, I've discovered a new found love. Paddle Boarding. You know, those surfboard like things that you see people standing up on and paddling with long slow strokes in the distance on the water and think "What in the world is that person doing? That is just plain strange!" Well, let me tell you- it is most certainly strange not  moving your feet very much and having your arms hurt while you awkwardly change your paddle from side to side. But after you get the hang of it, it is WONDERFUL! you can go fast, lay down and only have to really worry when you play battleship with teenage boys who've paddle boarded multiple times. Splashing was the most common way of retaliation on my part :)
We went out for an hour and a half and sang sailor songs.
sadly, my best friend didn't fair too well and was pushed in by the main player of battleship.
But I got away, a little salty but dry.

any who,
this song pretty much sums up my feelings right now.

Have a sprightly day!

Festival of Colors

This weekend I went to the COOLEST thing (quite possibly) EVER!
So, down in Utah every year they put on the Festival of Colors.
It's a religious Hindu spring festival,
celebrating the new season of spring and good harvests.
But since we don't live in Utah
we decided to throw our own Festival of Colors.

and it was SO MUCH FUN.

Basically, we chucked colored chalk at each other...

Who knew it could be so much fun?!

Kay and her adorable green bangs!

First day of Summer

What I wore: Romper- Target,  Cardi- Delias, Shoes - Target, Purse- H&M

You know those days when it's summer and you can just feel it?
Yeah.
That's not today.

But,

it's still a great day.
Since it's raining
(in JUNE for goodness's sake!)
It just means I get the day to bake.
And read.
And maybe watch a film here and there.

In other news!
I have decided to challenge myself in taking a photo each day of the summer.

This is going to be challenging,
coming from the girl who just locked her keys in the car
and was luckily rescued by her resourceful mother
and a thing called a "spare key".
Riveting stuff, I know.

But,
I really hope to succeed in this quest and upload the coolest ones
since posting  picture each day could get old.

Have a sprightly (and sprinkly) day.

:)

Bee Happy

What I wore: cardigan H&M, shirt thrifted, jeans dealias, scarf H&M, boots Nordstroms

You know what is the greatest? Nice people. I don't mean the people who are nice to you one time after you tripped and embarassed yourself in fornt of all you peers or when your mom dressed you for school in a turtle neck and vest. That's just plain pity nice. No, I mean the truly and genuinely wonderful and nice people down to the bone. They are just  lovely. Simply lovely. I can't get over how much of an impact being kind can have on someone. It can completely change a persons day! So yeah. Be nice. All the time. No matter what. Everyone will love you.

Anywho,
Have a happy day and smile. It's good for you to show off those pearly whites!

Hill, Yeah

Running?
Yes please!
A 12k?
Oh, my!
7.2 miles?
Hill yeah, I do!

Sound to Narrows 12k buddies!

June 9th, Sound to Narrows 12k.
A few friends and I decided to race it, as we've never run a 12k before.
This morning I woke up at 6:30 for this baby!

and

IT WAS FLIPPING FANTASTIC!
kickin' that asphalt
serenading each other
jumping through sprinklers
being encouraged by passerbys (being called a stallion?.. what?)

Ah.

T'was glorious.
It was my first race longer than a 5k and I was SO excited,
my favorite part might've been when they hand you water in little paper cups
and you get to feel all BA-runner status as you attempt to
refuel and end up pouring it all over yourself
and throwing it on the ground.
Each time I threw one down,
I had the urge to yell the SNL quote
"So, I threw it on the groundddd!!!!"

But,
besides that it was (mostly) normal!
I finished with a time of 1:15:25
better than I thought I would.
Then we rolled down a hill and ate some oranges.
And after it all,
I ended up with:

sore legs
a free tee-shirt
dos loaves of bread
hand sanatizer
gatorade
lots of raffle tickets
a cool Paul Bunion tattoo on my bicep
numerous free multicare items
and a smile.

:)

I have done it.
Time to cross it off my list and get a better time in the next one.

Can't get you off my mind

This is what summer looks like to me.

Today feels like Friday.
But it is not.
It is thursday, pretending to be Friday.
I am wishing for Friday and the weekend.
A 12k to run.
A night devoted to yummies and sappy love movies: aka Anti-prom
*zoom forward to next week*
Senior night out (sooooooooooooo flip flopping excited).
End of school.
Becoming a senior?
(not sure if it's excitement or fear. perhaps a bit of both)
 Summer parties.
Summer. Summer. Summer. SUMMER.

That's pretty much what's been going through my mind all day.

Oh the woes of being a junior, summer on the mind and T-14 days to go.

Let's do this.

Drops on the Window Pane

Rain.
The clear coating on the window, the pitter patter on the roof.
I love it.
No, that's an understatement,
I can't live without it.
I know it may be odd, but I could never imagine living without rain,
it just makes me so happy!
I love it when it purs down, really hard and fast.
When I can watch the giant splashes on our porch and hear it hit the maple leaves outside.
Or the mud afterwords, oooooooohhhhh how I love running through the muddy trails!
And puddle jumping!
And the smell of wet pavement!
(^okay, it's not my favoritest thing, but lots of people like it)
It makes everything calm and lovely.
I guess it's a good thing I live in Washington, huh?

A Little bit of Delicious

Whilst pondering the times of life I stumbled upon a delicious piece of gooey caramel-ness :)

Here is  the recipe :
Yield: 3 dozen cookies
Cook Time: 7-10 minutes

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cocoa
1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Bag of Rolo candies, unwrapped
Sugar (for rolling the cookie dough balls in)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat. Set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, sift flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa. Set aside.
3. With a mixer, cream butter and sugars together until smooth. Add in eggs, one at a time. Next, add in vanilla extract. Mix until blended.
4. Slowly add flour mixture to sugar mixture and blend well. Take a spoonful of chocolate cookie dough and wrap around one Rolo candy. Make sure Rolo is completely covered with cookie dough. Roll dough ball in sugar and place on prepared baking sheet. Continue until you run out of cookie dough.
5. Bake cookies for 7-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit on cookie sheet for 3-5 minutes. Move to a cooling rack and cool completely.

I found it on this blog :)

Enjoy!

Tie-dyed Eggs

egg hunts. baskets. egg candies. pastel colors. bunnies. chicks. sunshine. dresses.
Easter.
and egg dying.

For the past two or three years my family has gone against the grian of society and rebelled in the form of dying our Easter eggs in a new way.
Solid color dyes? Pffft, we laugh in the face of their stain and scorn at the sad eggs, striped and mismatched. Who does that? Not us!
Instead, we dye our eggs with sophistication.
In other words, Silk ties.

1. Pick out numerous patterned ties that you don't need or that you find at Goodwill (must be silk!) and lots and lots of eggs! (or how many you want to end up with, an extra or two for casualties)
2. Take said ties (the uglier, the brighter and the more colorful usually work best) and take out the linings, cut the patterned part to cover an egg.
3. Take the unboiled eggs from their carton and individually wrap each with the patterned tie chunks, making sure they are tight against the eggs and tie with pieces of yarn/string. (can be tied on two sides like candy or just on top)
4. Now wrap the egg covered in silk tie in a piece of plain cotton fabric (all color wrapped up) in a similar fashion.
5. Place in a large pot filled with water and about 1/4 a cup of vinegar (really I just guessed how much...) boil the water and let simmer for 20 minutes!
6. Unwrap. Scream in enthusiasm. Enjoy.

*may not work all the time, some ties are just plain duds so you're left with a nice albino hardboiled egg. Have fun :)

The Ties we used

We had a casualty

Yes, that is Mickey Mouse

The end result :)

Happy Easter!

HEY I got creative for once.

This past Sunday it was one of my bestfirends birthdays, Miss Sperry , so naturally I had to make her cake
But not just any old cake.
No,
I made a RAINBOW CAKE!
and it went like this:

Various colors of cake batter,
but be warned: purple doesn't usually turn out.
(notice the lack of picture of the purple...)
Instead you end up with a nice purplish puke.
Lovely!

Mix them all together!
Hooorah!

Bake.
Yummmm.

Decorate :)
and
Ding dong ditch your friends house.

Success.

Men may be monsters

THis is the music I like to listen to after a hard day
Like waking up with only ten minutes until you have to leave
Or forgetting your track uniform
Or having a nosy boy tell you why and how your fish died in Marine Bio,
as if having dead fish isn't enough (And I still don't think he knows anything...)
Or standing in the rain for 5 hours with pruny toes
Yes.
This is good music that reminds me of feeling accomplished after my race
cuddling in the pouring rain with bestfriends during a track meet
dancing in the rain
looking forward to friday
and eating cookies at lunch

:)

Of Monsters and Men. This band just makes me giddy when I hear them, I love it so much! :)

What is your favorite band?

Sunny Day Cake

Today, instead of working on homework like I had planned,  I made a cake. I found it on this lovely blog.
It was fun and relatively simple to make (which is good for me..) and while although it didn't turn out as pretty as the recipe picture it still tasted great :)

The end result! Feel free to bask in it's glory!

My grandma supervised, isn't she just the cutest?
